This week’s Minnesota fishing report shows a major jump in water temperatures across the state, quickly pushing crappies into shallow spring spawning areas. Anglers are finding active crappies around bulrushes, cattails, docks, and emerging weeds in less than 6 feet of water on many Minnesota lakes. With warmer, summer-like temperatures settling in, this shallow-water crappie bite may move quickly through pre-spawn and spawning phases over the next couple of weeks.

Bluegills have also started moving shallow in many areas, while bass fishing remains strong along shorelines, docks, and emerging weedlines. Northern pike continue to stay active in shallow weeds and warming bays throughout the state.

Walleye fishing reports across Minnesota improved noticeably over Memorial Day weekend as stable weather and warmer water temperatures helped increase fish activity.
