Every year the Minnesota DNR<\/a> is tasked with counting fish, not just a few but A LOT of fish! They do this so they can better manage fisheries and set appropriate fishing regulations. Using their DNR LakeFinder<\/a>, we are able to see the results for Leech Lake. Let\u2019s take a look at what they had to say!<\/p>\n

Leech Lake in Cass County, near the town of Walker, MN has a wide variety of fish to be found in the lake: Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Burbot, Cisco Species, Hybrid Sunfish, Lake Whitefish, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Tullibee (Cisco), WALLEYE, Yellow Bullhead, Yellow Perch, Bowfin (Dogfish), Shorthead Redhorse, White Sucker, Banded Killifish, Bigmouth Shiner, Blacknose Shiner, Bluntnose Minnow, Brook Stickleback, Central Mudminnow, Common Shiner, Emerald Shiner, Fathead Minnow, Golden Shiner, Iowa Darter, Johnny Darter, Logperch, Longnose Dace, Mimic Shiner, Mottled Sculpin, Sand Shiner, Spotfish Shiner, Spottail Shiner, Tadpole Madtom and Trout Perch. Whew that was a mouthful!<\/p>\n

Leech Lake has special fishing regulations that differ from statewide or border water regulations for certain species and take precedence over general fishing regulations.<\/p>\n
