Some days, it feels like this quarantine has gone on forever. Going out to a restaurant with friends and family, seeing the latest movie on the big screen, even just grilling out with some pals in the backyard…some days, these all seem like distant memories. Social distancing has almost begun to feel like the \u201cnew normal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps you and your family have even come up with some fun, creative ways of making the most of \u201cquarantining\u201d together. Family games, movie marathons, and themed dinners are some great ideas. We have another idea to offer that the whole family can enjoy: planning your post-COVID vacation together!<\/span><\/p>\n

Planning a vacation can be a great way to escape \u201cquarantine cabin fever.\u201d Although you cannot currently enjoy some of your favorite activities around Walker, it can be fun to plan what you\u2019ll do first once you have the chance! To get you started, we\u2019ve collected some ideas of the best places to fish and golf in the Leech Lake area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Places to Fish: Portage Bay<\/b><\/h3>\n

Portage Bay is one of the most popular spots for anglers on Leech Lake, particularly in the summer months. The bay is located near the north-eastern tip of Leech Lake. In spring, Walleye spawn at the northern edge of Portage Bay and begin to swim south in search of food. And of course, hungry fish make for excellent fishing!<\/span><\/p>\n

Near Portage Bay is the fantastic Leech Lake Recreation Area. This recreation area and campground provides many amenities like on-site laundry, games like shuffleboard, volleyball, and badminton, a playground, fish cleaning hut, and more! It\u2019s a great spot for a family camping trip near the shore of Leech Lake.<\/span><\/p>\n

Places to Golf: Tianna Country Club<\/a> & LongBow Golf Club<\/a><\/b><\/h3>\n

Tianna Country Club has delighted golfers in the Leech Lake area for nearly 100 years. Featuring an 18-hole, par 72 course, the country club is perched within the breathtaking scenery of the Chippewa National Forest.<\/span><\/p>\n

After your round of golf, sit back and enjoy a cocktail or two at the full-service clubhouse. The clubhouse\u2019s casual dining menu features breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, so there\u2019s something delicious to enjoy no matter the time of day!<\/span><\/p>\n

LongBow Golf Club, located 45 minutes north of Brainerd, was designed by golf architect Dan Helbling (The Preserve at Grand View) and former PGA tour pro Mike Morely. The 18-hole, par 72 course provides a world-class golfing experience!<\/span><\/p>\n
