Fishing reports really weren’t that different this week than last, which again means a lot of fishing activity in and around the weeds. Bluegill and bass reports continue to be very good and the majority of larger fish are being found on deep weedlines or deep weed flats. Look for both on the edges or right in weed pockets depending on the depth and time of day you’re fishing. Crappie action seemed to improve slightly, but still isn’t nearly as good as it’s going to get in the coming weeks. Anglers willing to fish early and stay late in the day are catching more crappies than midday anglers on top of the weeds or the weed edges. There were a few muskie reports this week, but most indicated small fish being caught or mainly follows by bigger fish. They really haven’t kicked in and fishing pressure generally remains light for them, with a better activity on rocks and points rather than weeds. Continue to check access conditions with the ongoing drought as well.

Leech Lake Report

A slip bobber and leech is producing walleyes in the 8- to 10-foot cabbage off Sand Point and in Sucker Bay. Covering water with a live bait rig and crawler also has worked in deeper water around Submarine Island and the Annex. Look for muskies on the rocks in Sucker and Portage bays, while bass and bluegill action remains strong in the 6- to 10-foot cabbage in most bays.

Sponsored By:

Reed’s Sporting Goods (218) 547-1505

Shriver’s Bait Company (218) 547-2250

Lodging Options

Report from the Dock Everything tends to get a bit repetitive this time of year and that seems to be the case this week.
