Report from the Dock<\/h2>\n

If you’re an angler in Minnesota, you currently have the best of both worlds, ice and open water. There are still plenty of ice-fishing options once you get north of Brainerd, and with this week’s cooler weather to the north, that should remain viable this weekend. With that, some shorelines have started to pull away, so any remaining ice fishing opportunities could be short lived. Overall, ice fishing pressure continues to be limited. From the central part of the state and points south many lakes are already wide open, with last weekend’s warm weather and strong winds eliminating the ice. There’s still ice floating around on some lakes in central and western Minnesota, but it’s rotten and expected to be gone soon. With the exception of some river fishing reports, there hasn’t been much open-water action to know what’s happening at this point. But you have both options at least for one more weekend.<\/p>\n

Leech Lake Report<\/h2>\n

Activity has been limited on the lake, although there are some eelpout being caught in Horseshoe Bay and Walker Bay over 22 to 30 feet at night. Tullibee reports have been limited, but there were a few reports of perch being caught in Sucker Bay over 14 to 20 feet. The accesses and shorelines were in decent shape this week.<\/p>\n

There are a few cracks on the main lake, so ATVs in some areas or walking out are probably the best options moving forward.<\/p>\n
