There was a bit more inconsistency in many walleye reports this week, and most anglers blame it on last week’s cold front, which continued into last weekend. In many areas, water temperatures dipped 8-10 degrees, and that meant much less aggressive walleyes. Anglers have been covering water and grinding out bites with a few more reports of minnows starting to turn walleyes. Not much has changed on the panfish front, other than they too have been a bit more sluggish this week. Weedlines, weed flats, or pockets within thick weeds continue to produce most bluegills, while crappies are most active late in the day and off established weed edges. There seems to be no problem catching bass and pike; they’ve provided the most consistent action this week, and most continue to be weed-related. Like last week, look for bigger fish on deeper weeds.<\/p>\n

Leech Lake Report<\/h2>\n

A slip bobber, jig, and piece of crawler continue to produce walleyes in the Snakepit area in 12 to 16 feet. Anglers trolling crankbaits during low-light periods and after dark are catching walleyes on the north end of Walker Bay in 9 to 12 feet. A few bigger perch have started showing up off Sand Point and in thicker cabbage beds in 8 to 10 feet. Muskie action remains best on the main lake rock piles with bucktails in 5 to 10 feet.<\/p>\n
