Report from the Dock<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s been a brutal week of weather across Minnesota, with strong winds and a major cold front throwing a wrench in most anglers\u2019 plans. Reports indicate that water temperatures have dropped as much as 10 to 12 degrees in many areas, and that seems to have slowed walleye activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

But walleyes were still being caught by those willing to brave the elements, and most fish continue to come out of shallow water and be taken with minnows or crawlers. There hasn\u2019t been a big switch to leeches, and the key this week was to work your live-bait presentation slowly, which makes sense, given the cold front.<\/span><\/p>\n

Crappies, bluegills, and bass were sliding into the shallows to spawn if they already hadn\u2019t (that depends on where you\u2019re at), but they seem to have pulled out as well. Look for them around docks, in reeds, and along shorelines as water temperatures start to climb again and everything becomes a bit more stable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leech Lake Fishing Report<\/h2>\n

Jigs tipped with minnows, crawlers, or leeches are producing walleyes at Brindley\u2019s Hole in Trader\u2019s Bay and West Goose Flats over 8 to 12 feet, the top of Annex in 7 to 9 feet, Two Points in 11 to 14 feet, and Little Hardwoods in 8 to 10 feet. Look for crappies and bluegills in or just off the reeds and rice beds in Sucker Bay and Boy Bay.<\/p>\n
