There didn’t seem to be as many people fishing over the past week in many areas, although several weather events again likely changed plans for some anglers. Overall, fishing reports remain solid for this time of year, with panfish and bass providing excellent catching opportunities in deep and shallow vegetation. Weed edges, weed flats, and pockets with deep vegetation are all targets for crappies, bluegills, and bass. The weeds are also producing plenty of walleyes, especially during low-light periods, and you don’t have to be looking deep during the early morning and evening hours, which are now the most consistent feeding windows. The exception is deep structure or deep basin areas for midday walleyes, which, based on several reports this week, are being found suspended and usually with front-facing sonar. Bucktails are triggering muskies, but anglers are seeing more fish than they’re hooking.<\/p>\n

Leech Lake Fishing Report<\/span><\/p>\n

A jig and piece of nightcrawler, slip bobber rigs, or crankbaits are turning walleyes between Bear Island and the Annex in 14 to 16 feet. The north end of Walker Bay started producing a few more walleyes on crawlers in 16 to 20 feet, as is the Greg\u2019s breakline area in 12 to 16 feet. The 7- to 9-foot cabbage in Boy Bay, Sucker Bay, and Portage Bay is producing panfish and largemouth bass, while smallmouths continue to hit plastics on the 10- to 15-foot rocks. Bucktails are raising muskies on rocks more than weeds this week.<\/p>\n
