Report from the Dock<\/h2>\n

Generally, not much has changed from last week as far as where fish are located and what they’re biting on. That’s typically the case this time of year; everything gets pretty stagnant, especially over the past week with changing weather patterns and heavy rains throwing a curveball at anglers. For walleyes, it seems people are grinding out bites, covering water with crankbaits or spinner rigs, and picking off the aggressive fish in a given pod. Once you locate a few, slow down and throw a jig or slip bobber on top of them. Deep weeds and rocks seem to be producing bigger panfish, bluegills during the day, and crappies each evening, in these areas. You’ll still catch largemouth and smallmouth bass on topwater baits, but that seems to be winding down a bit, so start throwing plastics or crankbaits for bass. Muskie reports have been limited and there’s been more fish seen than caught again this week.<\/p>\n

Leech Lake Fishing Report<\/span><\/p>\n

There seem to be two distinct areas producing walleyes: the 5- to 10-foot sand grass and the 14- to 18-foot rocks. Cover water with a spinner and crawler or crankbait, or make long casts with a jig or slip bobber rig with crawlers. Better areas early this week have been the Annex, Bear Island, Pelican Island, and Stoney Point. You\u2019ll find smallmouth bass on the rock piles and boulders in 8 to 16 feet and largemouths in the 6- to 9-foot cabbage and rice beds. Bucktails and topwater baits are triggering muskies on the rocks in 8 to 12 feet.<\/p>\n
