Report from the Dock<\/h2>\n

It seems as though most outdoors-minded folks have been focusing on hunting rather than fishing over the past week. The youth and early antlerless deer hunts were held last weekend, and most reports indicated success and high participation in many areas. Archery hunters are also reporting that deer have definitely started to get more active during daylight hours. There hasn’t been a big push of ducks into the state over the past week, so waterfowl hunters are still banging away at local puddle ducks, while grouse hunting success seems to have improved now that much of the cover has come down. On the fishing side, windy conditions have limited opportunities to get out across most of the state over the past week. Many boats have been put away for the year, and docks are starting to be removed at public accesses, but minnows continue to produce plenty of walleyes, and muskies remain active as well.<\/p>\n

Leech Lake Fishing Report<\/span><\/p>\n

A jig and minnow is turning walleyes on the wind-driven points and shorelines in less than 10 feet. The Bear Island area, Pine Point, Battle Point, and Grand Vu Flats are also producing walleyes on minnows in 7 to 12 feet. The north end of Walker Bay and 5- to 9-foot weeds remain the best options for perch, along with a few walleyes, in 6 to 8 feet. Look for muskies on the rocks in less than 10 feet.<\/p>\n
