Report from the Dock \u2013 Minnesota Fishing Conditions<\/h2>\n

This week\u2019s Minnesota fishing report shows improving open water conditions as the ice-out line continues shifting north. A few ice fishing opportunities remained early this week in far northern areas and may last into the weekend. Most anglers have been limited to walking out, but overall participation has been very light, as interest in late-season ice fishing continues to drop.<\/p>\n

Open water fishing in Minnesota for panfish and bass has slowly started to gain momentum, although angler activity remains limited. Poor weather conditions over the past week including wind, cool temperatures, and rain, have made it difficult for anglers to get out on the water or fish from shore.<\/p>\n

For those finding success, crappies are still being caught in slightly deeper water, just outside traditional shallow spring locations. Bluegills and bass have been more active in mud-bottom bays, harbors, and marinas. As water temperatures rise, crappies are expected to move into shallow areas across more Minnesota lakes.<\/p>\n

Leech Lake Fishing Report \u2013 Walker, MN<\/span><\/p>\n

On Leech Lake near Walker, ice fishing has officially come to an end. Shorelines have pulled away significantly, making access to the lake nearly impossible in most areas.<\/p>\n

While much of Leech Lake remained ice-covered earlier this week, conditions have deteriorated to the point where it is no longer safe to venture out. Anglers should avoid attempting access and instead look ahead to improving open water fishing conditions on Leech Lake as temperatures begin to warm.<\/p>\n
