Report from the Dock \u2013 Minnesota Fishing Conditions<\/h2>\n

This week\u2019s Minnesota fishing report shows a major jump in water temperatures across the state, quickly pushing crappies into shallow spring spawning areas. Anglers are finding active crappies around bulrushes, cattails, docks, and emerging weeds in less than 6 feet of water on many Minnesota lakes. With warmer, summer-like temperatures settling in, this shallow-water crappie bite may move quickly through pre-spawn and spawning phases over the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n

Bluegills have also started moving shallow in many areas, while bass fishing remains strong along shorelines, docks, and emerging weedlines. Northern pike continue to stay active in shallow weeds and warming bays throughout the state.<\/p>\n

Walleye fishing reports across Minnesota improved noticeably over Memorial Day weekend as stable weather and warmer water temperatures helped increase fish activity. While minnows are still producing walleyes in many lakes, anglers are also starting to see better success with crawlers and leeches on shoreline breaks, flats, and shallow structure during low-light periods.<\/p>\n

Leech Lake Fishing Report \u2013 Walker, MN<\/span><\/p>\n

Leech Lake walleye fishing has been most productive during the early morning and evening hours, with slower action throughout midday. A jig and minnow continues to be the top presentation, although crawlers are also producing fish on GrandVu Flats in 10 feet, the west side of Goose Island in 8 to 12 feet, and off Stoney Point in 14 feet.<\/p>\n

Smallmouth bass are actively hitting plastics and crankbaits around shallow rocks and boulders, while largemouth bass are holding shallow along emerging weeds throughout many bays. Crappies and bluegills are also being found in the bulrushes and developing weedlines across the lake, offering solid panfish action around Walker, MN.<\/p>\n
